Pitlochry Festival Theatre is Worth a Visit

Been watching an old college friend on Facebook keeping us up to date with how his rehearsals are going for a play at Pitlochry Festival Theatre later this year so thought a wee intro to the place could be in order.

Pitlochry nestles in the heart of Scotland, amidst spectacular landscapes rich in wildlife. It’s the ideal place to relax, unwind and enjoy a well-earned break. And whatever the season - Autumn, Winter, Spring or Summer - there’s always entertainment with style at Piltochry Festvial Theatre.

The area abounds with quality accommodation of all sorts - how about trying The Birchwood Hotel in Ptilochry for instance?

The Spring programme is just getting under way and there 's a concert from Kate Rusby to look forward to, a D-Day talk,  a collection of songs, stories and anecdotes from the Home Front in Keep Smiling Through, as well as Active Arts workshops in subjects as diverse as watercolour painting and jewellery making and Theatre Masterclasses in Directing and Costume Design. And that’s far from all..!

The final of the Scottish Community Drama Association’s 78th National One Act Play Festival runs from 22nd to 24th April. The final will feature eight productions which have fought their way through twenty four District Festivals and four Divisional Festivals, and represents the very best of Scottish amateur drama.

And the end of Spring will be followed by another magical Summer Season of repertoire theatre, which in 2010 will open with the biggest bang yet: one of the greatest Broadway musicals of all time, Cole Porter’s musical comedy masterpiece – Kiss Me, Kate!

Give it a visit next time you're heading up the A9 for a short break in the Central Highlands of Scotland
